is happy to know R. Kelly has been listening to his music and may be willing to collaborate with him in the future.
Following up on Kelly’s interview with MTV
recently, Songz says Kelly has been a major influence and will forever be the “King” of R&B in his eyes.
“I love R. Kelly. He recently said that he would love to work with me, said that he’s a fan of mine and that’s very special to me,” Trey told MTV News
. “I can’t really explain how much that means to me. He’s been an influencer and an idol for me for a long time. We had our differences and right now we’re in a great place. No matter how well I do, [R. Kelly] is the king forever in my eyes.”
“I’mma talk to Ne-Yo when I see him. It ain’t even that. The thing is that Ne-Yo knows me,” Songz told 106 KMEL radio this week. “Ain’t no need to have that conversation for the world to hear, you know. And I feel like that’s a sucker move.”
With that said, Songz is not surprised by people taking shots at his artistry. According to Trey, it’s to be expected.
“It’s all good though. I’m a real ni**a. They gon’ take shots,” he told KMEL.
